The South African Book Lovers group I belong to on Goodreads has a thing for reading challenges. Each quarter we embark on an Epic Reads challenge. The goal: to see who manages to get the highest page count by reading only books with 500 or more pages. It's a nice incentive to read those intimidating books you keep putting off and a bit of friendly competition is never a bad thing.
Behold my tower of tomes and tremble beneath the weight of its epic wordiness!

A whole 70 cm of fictiony goodness |
I managed to read a surprising amount in the last 3 months. I think it might even by the highest page count I've had in the epic challenge so far - a whopping
8810 pages!
I read:
A Crown of Swords: 896p
The Path of Daggers: 685p
Winter's Heart: 780p
Crossroads of Twilight: 822p
Knife of Dreams: 837p
Stealing Light: 603p
Nova War: 568p
Empire of Light: 544p
A Clash of Kings: 969p
A Storm of Swords: 1128p
A Feast for Crows: 978p
My brain needs a rest. I think I might need to focus on some lighter reading now...
Good god, man! That is epic indeed. My mind boggles just looking at those... ;)
ReplyDeleteI was actually surprised myself. Seeing all of them piled up like that was a bit disconcerting. The problem is that majority of my books are in the 500+ range so I still have loads of them to read.
DeleteWow! That is impressive. I need to step up my game.
ReplyDeleteReally epic stuff!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's alot! I have the George Martin books, but I'm still thinking about whether I should read them or not :)
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely worth reading although all the different viewpoint characters and supporting cast can be somewhat daunting.
